Dear Students and Parents:
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! San Joaquin Valley High School is committed to providing a positive, challenging, and academically oriented learning environment for all students. Our goal is to provide learning activities, which require high levels of critical thinking and reasoning, accompanied by application of learning to real-world situations. Additionally, teachers will be focusing on the Common Core Standards, which will put an emphasis on reading and writing skills across all content areas. Our teachers are experienced and dedicated professionals who are committed to helping all students reach their full potential. San Joaquin Valley High School will have high expectations and challenge all students to do what it takes to become successful.
We will address the need for them to demonstrate the will to succeed and their faith in themselves to believe that anything is possible. Success is not a matter of luck, but planning and organization. Parents, you can support your student during the school year by checking to make sure that assignments are completed, staying in contact with teachers via email or telephone, and becoming involved in many of the various programs and activities.
The consistent support and encouragement of parents will result in greater success for all students. I look forward to a very successful school year. Please stay involved, and call on your child’s teacher, counselor, or administrator for any assistance you may need during the 2018-2019 school year.
Israel Almendarez, Principal
